MANICURE MUSE: Christian Dior Couture Spring ‘12
Having gone to school for fashion design and designed my own collection, I can appreciate the art of every snip, stitch, drape and trim that goes into making a garment. The freedom to create art without the pressure of retail is rare, which is why I always look forward to the couture collections. Bill Gaytten, who has taken the reigns for the house of Dior, described viewing the collection with X-ray vision. Staying true to the Dior hertitage of the 50s silhouette was a transparent collection of fit ‘n’ flare dresses that showcased the craftsmanship and very fine detail. This look, in particular, was breath-taking. I love the alluring sheer top with fine folds… not to mention the endless ombre layers of the skirt. Oh, and did I mention Lana del Ray accompanied the collection as the soundtrack? Swoon
To emulate, I used “Dove” by Zoya, “Brilliant White” by CND, and “Liquid Vinyl” by Orly

You’ve probably heard a lot of “style resolutions” about trying new things and giving up old habits in 2012, but if the braids we wore in 2011 are wrong, we don’t want to be right. Just look at Karlie Kloss rocking hers for Free People!
(But we’re happy to take some fresh styling tips from Karlie - grunging up a sheer dress with a denim vest? Genius!)
